Sandra King Excellence and Education Fund Scholarship

The Sandra King Excellence and Education Fund Scholarship was established to encourage opportunities for the education of long-term healthcare professionals in Kentucky.

The Nazareth Homes Foundation awards the Sandra King Excellence and Education Fund Scholarship to Nazareth Home employees who are pursuing further education, certification, or other learning opportunities in the long-term care profession. Nazareth Home employees in all departments who meet the qualifications are eligible to apply for a scholarship.

Qualifications include:

- Be a current Nazareth Home employee (in good standing and minimum of six months employment)
- Enrolled or accepted into the program you are applying for scholarship (college, university, health care institution, or other educational organization that offers state-approved courses)

Applications will be reviewed by volunteers of the Nazareth Homes Foundation Committee. Recipients will be chosen based on completion of the application, including the Scholarship Application Questionnaire, commitment to the profession, and one required letter of recommendation.

Scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution to cover expenses incurred for tuition, books, or course-related fees. The amount of each employee scholarship is $2,000 twice per year, with a max of $4,000 per year. This amount is reviewed annually.

Applications will be accepted and awarded twice each year. The application periods for 2023 are:

- Received by July 1, 2023, for an August 15, 2023 announcement
- Received by October 1, 2023, for a November 15, 2023 announcement

Scholarship funds will be available immediately after notification that the scholarship was awarded up until one year from the date of the award. It should be noted any unused funds after one year will lapse and revert back to the Nazareth Homes Foundation.
