Six Inspiring Ways You Can Support Nazareth Home

Six Inspiring Ways You Can Support Nazareth Home

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

We strive to plant seeds of love, well-being, and peace of mind each day at Nazareth Home. One way we accomplish this is through the support of the Nazareth Homes Foundation.

The foundation plays a vital role in supporting our mission of delivering person-centered care to elders through exceptional services, programs, equipment, and facilities. The foundation is also dedicated to empowering Nazareth Home team members through educational scholarships and workforce development initiatives, enabling them to enhance their skill sets and grow professionally.

We are deeply grateful to our generous supporters, whose contributions of time, talent, and financial resources make the important work of the Nazareth Homes Foundation possible. We offer numerous ways you can show support and positively impact the quality of life for elders, their families, and our dedicated team members at Nazareth Home:

Thank You from the Nazareth Home Foundation

Thank You from the Nazareth Home Foundation

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, the Nazareth Home Foundation would like to thank all of you who have supported our programs and facilities in 2021 through generous donations.

In September, we awarded eight team members with scholarships to various colleges/universities to support their continued professional growth. This funding came from our donors who stepped forward to support the Sandra King Education and Excellence Fund.

Thanks to the Kentucky Colonels, we added a new spa tub to Charity Court on our Highlands Campus, ensuring the ladies there can have peaceful and relaxing baths.

We’ve also been able to support our elders in special gift opportunities throughout the year, thanks to our many community partners that continue to show up and love on our elders.

These gifts mean so much to our organization and are part of what allows Nazareth Home to continue its mission. If you have questions on how to engage with our Foundation, please contact our Director of Development, Roberta Steutermann, at

As we close out this year, we are so thankful for your support and look forward to what 2022 will bring.

It may look like any other beautiful day at Waterfront Park — dog walkers, joggers and moms with babies strolling — but this day is specially set aside to give.

“About 75% of our budget is earned revenue or donations so that is a big percentage to us,” Ashley Smith said.

Smith is the director of development with Waterfront Park. She said the pandemic temporarily stopped one of their largest revenue sources.

“Special events make up so much of our budget and we were not able to hold one single event last year,” Smith said. “We had an entire third of our budget that was completely wiped out.”

And Smith and Waterfront Park of course were not alone.

Nonprofits all over the Louisville Metro had to pivot, plan and prepare to work with smaller budgets, making this year’s Community Foundation of Louisville “Give for Good Louisville” campaign even more important.

“We were able to thankfully have a lot of events this summer and we are thankful for all the ways we were able to gather together but we didn’t make a full rebound so this campaign for us is really really important,” Smith said.

The Nazareth Home is all about the residents, offering them the best possible care. And to do that, they are raising money for a wheelchair-accessible van, hoping the Give For Good Louisville campaign will help them reach their goal.

“Our focus here is providing mission-centered, person-centered care. We make certain every person feels at home here,” Roberta Steutermann said.

Steutermann is the director of development for the nonprofit faith-based nursing home and says the pandemic hit them hard. They had to do without everything from the volunteers who could not come in to help to money that was not donated.

“Without the donations, truly the mission-centered piece, the piece that makes Nazareth so special and so unique, doesn’t exist,” she said.

Keonna Williams comes to Waterfront Park often. She said she loves it and is hopeful others will donate to support one of Louisville’s gems.

“I bring my niece when she says has good days at daycare. It is very good park to come and spend a nice beautiful day,” Williams said.

If an organization is able to raise $2,500 in the campaign, the Community Foundation will match it. Check out the link here to learn more about how to donate.

Give a Gift to Support Nazareth Home

Give a Gift to Support Nazareth Home

As the end of the year comes to a close, we enter a season of giving, a time to give back to those you love and the causes you support. This year, consider a gift to the Nazareth Homes Foundation.

It’s no secret that 2020 had been a year of challenges and uphill battles. As we continued to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, it was clear that we needed a fund to help support our staff and elders during this unprecedented time. The COVID-19 Relief Fund addresses the immediate and longer-term needs of our staff and elders. This fund helps to provide the following:

    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for staff
    • Technology like Theora Clear, which helps monitor the temperatures of each individual who enters our campuses
    • Additional staffing
    • Unexpected and unanticipated expenses due to COVID-19

If you would like to look at other ways to support Nazareth Home, visit our giving page to learn about other funds available. For example, our Sandra King of Excellence Fund provides tuition assistance for staff to further their education.

The impact your gift has on Nazareth Home is immeasurable. It’s an investment in each person that lives and works here. Your donation helps us sustain and continue our mission of person-centered care.

This holiday season, as you consider your year-end gifts, remember Nazareth Homes Foundation. Every gift matters.

Those wishing to contribute can:

    • Make a secure, tax-deductible online donation
    • Make a check payable to Nazareth Homes Foundation, include the name of the fund in the memo line. Mail to: 2000 Newburg Road Louisville, KY 40205.

Thank you for making Give for Good a success

Thank you for making Give for Good a success

Nazareth Home was honored to participate in this year’s Give for Good Louisville, the biggest day of online giving for the Louisville Community. The money raised for the 500+ participating non-profit organizations was eligible for prize money throughout the day from the Community Foundation of Louisville, the host of the online event.

This year, Nazareth Homes Foundation met our goal and raised $10,000! We are grateful to the group of donors that supported us. We are humbled that so many support our Sandra King Education and Excellence Fund. The focus of this fund is to empower Nazareth Home staff to further their education without the burden of overwhelming tuition. By supporting our team members and giving back to them, we strengthen our facilities and provide our elders with the excellence they deserve.

Thanks to everyone who donated, and to all of those who support Nazareth Home throughout the year. We’ll see you next year.
