Grateful Beyond Words: A Family’s Experience at Nazareth Home

“My mother Mildred, 88, underwent a hip replacement and was allocated a place in your unit. The recovery wing as well as the entire facility is exemplary: clean, homey, welcoming, well-equipped, comfortable. What I want to highlight is even though the facility itself is great, it is the human resources and the staff that are the real strengths and places where Nazareth is leagues ahead of much healthcare.

Your team is professional and well-trained, not just in health matters but in communication and dealing with people. Their level of care towards patients and their families is outstanding. The compassion shown to my mother and her circumstances exceeded expectations. It is faultless.

In difficult times of vulnerability, it is reassuring to know one’s loved ones are in safe hands. I would like to give special mention to Susie Steiden. She was my mother’s care worker. I live abroad in the UK and was only able to be in Kentucky for one day after she transferred to Nazareth. This was a huge worry to both my mother and myself. I needn’t have worried at all.

My mother’s recovery and circumstances were challenging, but due to Susie’s compassion, advice, and guidance, my mother’s recovery and the technicalities involved with her recovery were better than we hoped for. Susie went beyond the call of duty to let me know how my mother was progressing. She guided me towards available resources and helped create the best aftercare plan. She spent time informing me of her progress and updating me about what was needed. Living far away, managing would not have been possible without Susie. She is an angel and a very compassionate and professional. It was important to us that she is recognised for her outstanding work.

The whole team – nurses, PTs (including Aida), and the finance staff – were wonderful too and made my mother’s best recovery possible. I am grateful and appreciative of all you do. Thank you all so very much.” –Desiree Stevens
